A pack of 7 postcards, each a unique portrait sharing the real stories and memories of 7 different Black women.
As part of the larger project “I Am A Black Woman”, “At The Root Of It” explores the deep connection between Black Women and their hair. This single part of our bodies can go through so much experimentation and change in a lifetime. It can be an ongoing journey of discovery. It can represent our heritage, mood, personality and style. It can even be a political statement. Every Black Woman has a story to tell when it comes to their hair.

5% of each sale from the first batch will be donated to ImKaan, “a UK-based, Black feminist organisation... dedicated to addressing violence against Black and minoritised women and girls i.e. women and girls which are defined in policy terms as Black and ‘Minority Ethnic’ (BME).”

Each postcard is printed in the UK using Eco-Friendly printing processes onto recycled paper.
